Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink

By Marina Anne

Water water everywhere
But not a drop to drink

A sea of people surround me here
But in my thoughts I sink
I’m speaking and my smile’s sincere
But somehow I feel sick

There’s water water everywhere
But not a drop to drink

The chatter and the laughter grow
Hitting me like waves on stone
I’m moving with the ebb and flow
But somehow I feel all alone

I look at you, try not to stare
..Did I forget to blink?
And do you see me standing here?
And do you also think;

There’s water water everywhere
But not a drop to drink?

There are many fish in the sea they say
But is there one for me, you think?
Maybe they don’t come this way
Or maybe they’ve all gone extinct

Just water water everywhere
And not a drop to drink

Sometimes it makes me feel scared
Like others know some secret trick
While I remain unaware
Unable to find the missing link

It mocks me when I see you care
Because I know it still won’t click
It never goes anywhere
And I think I’m on the brink

Of drowning in this
Water water everywhere
With not a drop to drink

I try my best to stay afloat
Gasping for some air
I’m searching for a lifeboat
But instead I meet your stare

And it may not go anywhere
But you smile a little wink
Not a lot of things to share
But… let’s go for a drink?
